1824- elected as a state senator
December 7, 1838- elected as the 6th Governor of Illinois
where he served for 4 years
February 14, 1917 died in his Carrollton home
On July 4, 1917 a monument of dedication was given in Thomas
Carlin's name where a statute of him was placed on the Southeast
corner of the Carrollton Courthouse lawn where it still stands
today.
