Past, Present, Future-
Changes in Carrollton Schools

Over the years, the Carrollton Grade School's size and architecture have changed dramatically to accommodate the ever-changing population of Carrollton, Illinois.

The first public grade school, accommodating K-12, was built in January of 1871. The eastern portion of the original structure was then torn down leaving about one third of the original building.
In 1960, an addition added approximately twelve classrooms, an office, a nurse's station, and restrooms. The newest addition, added in 1992, extended the facilities available to students by adding a music room and reading clinic.

The newest project for the Carrollton Grade School entails demolishing the original three-story brick structure and replacing it with a modern addition. Ground breaking for the newest portion of the Carrollton Grade is planned for summer of 2004.
