- September 21, 2008 Regular Quarterly Meeting of the Society
- The September Greene County Historical and Genealogical Society
meeting will be held at the Don Allen Farm east of Roodhouse
on the north side of the Scottville blacktop at 2 p.m. We will
tour the recently renovated log cabin in which Don was born.
- November 16, 2008 Regular Quarterly Meeting of the Society
- Come join us for a presentation by Dr. Greg Vogel of the
Kampsville Center for Archeology on the activities of the center
and an overview of the Indian activity in the county prior to
settlement in the early 1800s. Dr. Vogel encourages everyone
to bring any Indian artifacts they might have if they want them
identified as to their source, significance, use, etc.

The Greene County Historical and Genealogical
Society Website is sponsored by a financial contribution from
The Carrollton Bank. The internet access
at the Hodges Building is provided as a public service by the
Illinois Rural Electric Association. The Carrollton
Community Unit School District provided assistance in developing,
maintaining, and hosting the web site.
