Building Renovations

Renovation of the Lee-Baker-Hodges Building
We Need Your Help
Renovations of Building- larger photos included below

The membership survey conducted in December 2007 revealed unanimous support for renovating the upstairs rooms of the Hodges Building to expand the museum. We will need close to $80,000 to complete the needed renovations to the building that will allow all the rooms on both levels to be used for exhibits, museum, storage, library, office, etc. We already have $8,000 in donations so we have 10% of our goal.

Your contribution will help us attain our goal!

Remaining Renovation Work:
  • Renovate walls and ceilings in 6 second level rooms and the hallway
  • Refinish remaining flooring on first and second levels
  • Insulation in attic
  • Installation of smoke/fire alarm system
  • Paint exterior white trim and porches
  • Storage and file cabinets in workroom, new computer, etc.

The heating and air conditioning, electrical wiring, window treatments, first floor renovations, and some floor refinishing were previously completed.

Completion of these renovations will:
  • Provide additional space for quality museum exhibits and help attract more visitors.
  • Restore the integrity and structure of the building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and improve the visual appearance of the building.
  • Provide for enhanced storage facilities for items not currently on display.
  • Enhance the research capability in the library for members and other visitors.

The Society is requesting funds for renovations from the Greene County Board, Society members, local businesses, corporate foundations, and government grants.
